Welcome to Always Renovating
from Owner, Steve Zugan.

Coming from a U.S Navy and tradesmen family, I was first introduced to Hilton Head in 1995 when my father retired as a then Police Sergeant from Ohio. Raised fishing Lake Erie religiously, being on the water is first nature. It took only a few trips fishing, shrimping, clamming, and just enjoying the southern hospitality to fall in love with South Carolina’s Low Country.

While I spent 24 years building a very successful white collar career in selling Sporting Goods and Toy consumer products to mass retail, my relaxation time was spent in Hilton Head and traveling the world from Hawaii to the Caribbean and everything in between. I have been very blessed in my career learning to offer the best value services while enjoying the ride. Having lost my father and father-in-law at early ages, I set a goal in 2001 to follow my dream of retiring from corporate life and moving to Hilton Head, SC before age 50.

I opened Always Angling Charters in 2016 while doing extensive renovations to our home in Hilton Head Plantation. Several of my biggest frustrations on Hilton Head was finding reliable tradesmen that would return phone calls, show up on time, quote realistic costs for jobs, and keep a clean job site when doing the work. I quickly learned from neighbors and friends that the work ethic I provide for my clients was hard to find in Hilton Head and once you did find them, these companies were very costly and booked out a long time. One of my affluent charter clients who I had discussed my home renovation during the charter trip then asked me to do work on their home in 2020. During their renovation both of their neighbors asked me to do renovations on their homes as they saw my quality, work ethic, job site cleanliness, and affordability. Always Renovating opened their doors in 2020 due to word of mouth and immediate high demand for skilled tradesmen who provide competitive quotes, provide great communication, and complete renovations on time with clean job sites. Like many homes on Hilton Head, their homes were built in the late 80's when building codes were not as strong as they are today. Both homes had significant dry rot. After I completed both jobs, they asked my permission to put my name into a community trademen's list for contractors in Hilton Head Plantation. Since 2020, I have been booked out several weeks for home renovations across all of Hilton Head but the bulk of my business remains in Hilton Head Plantation due to word of mouth. I do all my own work so I can control permitting, the work flow and materials acquisitions, quality of work, and job site cleanliness daily. Thank you to all of you for allowing me to do your home renovations as I truly enjoy seeing the product of hard work and my clientele's happiness living within their beautified home renovation.
